A Child Named Modest

This is Modest, she is five years old. She has not been walking by herself since she was born. Evidently she was given an overdose of medication when she was a few months old that affected the motor development of lower extremities. She goes to the day care center of Capuchins Sisters here in Shisong.
The sisters had this beam built to train children in learning how to walk, and Modest benefits from it more than the other kids. One of my friends, Sr. Relindis, requested me to help Modest and see what I can do. I have been seeing the child almost daily from Monday to Friday after work for an hour at the day care center  -  kind of training her how to walk.

Modest does not have the means to walk at home. She has been seen at St Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital’s physical therapy department before but was not consistent and then the family stopped bringing her for therapy.

I spoke with Sr. Relindis and Sr. Petra about the importance of continuing the child's physical therapy.  Now the parents allow the day care center to bring Modest to the hospital twice a week.
I continue to see her after my regular work.

Thank you to my sponsors for allowing me to help Modest. God bless you with good health , safety and protection.
